The supplies.
The chocolate I burned by trying to melt it over direct heat. Consistency of pumice stone. Smells good though.
Had better luck melting the chips in the microwave. These are the freshly dipped pretzels cooling on parchment paper.
The finished product. Not as pretty as the ones we buy at the store! We look forward to perfecting our technique,

MMMmmmmm...they look good to me!!
Double boiler!
I was totally just going to say double boiler too Janett -- great minds thing alike.
Another way is to put the pretzels out on parchment on a baking tray, put kisses or a few baking chips on top and melt in the oven.
Have fun!
Is a double boiler a pot that sits inside a pot? I have one of those but it is HUGE. I like the idea of putting the chips on the pretzels and then heating them - I might try that!
double boiler is a pot inside a pot. You don't have to use a standard double boiler, you can use a small pot of your own, sit it in a larger pot that is full of water, and heat on the stove. The direct heat is what burns the chocolate.
