Book Meme

Scott has tagged me!
  1. One book that changed your life? Where is God When it Hurts by Phillip Yancey. Along the lines of Why Bad Things Happen to Good People by Kushner except it's not UTTER CRAP.
  2. One book that you have read more than once? Just one? Hmmmm. Anything by Jane Austen stands up to multiple readings. But what stands out in my mind is Mordan'ts Need (Vol. 1 and 2) by Stephen R. Donaldson.
  3. One book you would want on a desert island? The Bible.
  4. One book that made you laugh? Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding. One of the funnest reads ever!
  5. One book that made you cry? The Black Flower by Howard Bahr. I still cry when I read it.
  6. One book you wish had been written? I wish Dorothy Sayers had finished Thrones, Dominations.
  7. One book you wish had never been written? Can't think of one. I've read some real stinkers though! Blech!
  8. One book you are currently reading? Ombria in Shadow by Patricia McKillip
  9. One book you have been meaning to read? The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs
  10. Now tag five people: Steph, Noah, Lauren, Mom, and Dad

Hi Clint! I totally would have tagged you but I wasn't sure if you still come by my blog (my posts are so sporadic these days.) Can I do an honorary tag? I'd love to see your list!

Hi Kim, I accidently found your blog. I appreciate you writing so much about Willow Creek. My wife and I attended Willow from 2000-2002. Since then, we have been out of the country. It's great to see and hear so many updates through your blog. Thanks for writing and keep them coming! Please take more photos. We were part of the Chapter 2 campaign but never had a chance to see the end product. We hope to visit Willow again in the near future.

Hi Tim Su! I'm so glad that someone isn't tired of all my Willow posts ;) I'll definitely try to post some more photos - the new building is BEAUTIFUL! Chapter 2 was well worth it!

Hi Crystal, I almost chose Mere Christianity, and maybe I should have, but I think about Yancey's book more often than I think of MC these days.

It was fun hanging out with you too, even if you don't have a proper appreciation of the Mark Knopfler ;)

Who???

Kimberly Cangelosi said...

Mark Knopfler! He and Emmylou Harris were the musicians in the song you weren't too crazy about last night :)

Oh ya! Well I don't usually ever like a song the first time I hear it. You can ask Scott he thinks I'm so funny because I will hate a song or songs for EVER and then all of a sudden it comes on and I'm like I LOVE THIS SONG WHAT IS IT!!!?? And he laughs and tells me I hated the song and I never believe him. HA! I didn't even like Sufjan for 2 years or something (GASP!!!) until I heard the sweet sounds of Come On Feel the Illinois and the John Wayne Gacy song came on and I cried sooooo hard on our way to Washington D.C. So maybe if I hear it again I will like it.

Actually it was traveling through southern Illinois on the way to OOOOOOOOOOklahoma(!).

Nice list Kim, the only thing I'm slightly surprised about is the dominance of the fiction. For some reason I had you pegged as a predominantly non-fiction fan, though looking back now I'm not sure why I felt that way.

Scott is was NOT OOOKlahome you're parents were NOT in the car with us. I was sitting in the front seat!!! UGH! You have the worst memory! I think I would remember when and where I was you poohnugget!

How could you not know he world's biggers Jane Austin fan did not appreciate good fiction so much? Silly man.

Prolly 'cause I'm so freakin' smart. People meet me and they wonder "how'd she get so freakin' smart...not reading fiction, I bet!" Wrong. Everything I need to know I learned from Stephen King. In fact, when the youngsters ask me, "Miss Traynor, how can I be as successful as you?" I tell them "Forget about college, it's a rip off. Instead, read a lot of mass market paper backs and three or four issues of O magazine."

Hello Kim,

That's a pretty good answer. I like some of King's books. Like Thinnner. And I like his short stories quite a bit, usually.
