Filler

Hi folks, how's everybody doing? Don't have anything interesting to talk about but I hate going more than a couple of days without a blog post so I thought I'd just ramble on for a few paragraphs and post that. So here goes...

Beautiful weather here in Chicagoland. Steph and Mark got some yard work done this weekend and, while we are still pretty sorry looking compared to our neighbors, we are no longer the house on the block that screams "white trash" when you drive by. Now it's the guy three doors down. Yipee!

The DaVinci Code series continued this week at church. The music was much the same as last week (awesome) the drama was much more appropriate (about doubt) but the message wasn't quite as solid. The good points were all there but they were delivered in a much less straightforward and serious tone. Which some people might have liked, I don't know. It was about the gospels and you can find great video clips about the gospels at Leestroble.com.

Speaking of The DaVinci Code...I've kind of stalled now that Langdon and Sophie have run into Leigh and he keeps mentioning the "gospels" found in the Dead Sea Scrolls! What a doofus. Every Joe and Jane with the Discovery channel on their TV knows that the Dead Sea Scrolls belonged to a Jewish sect and contained no gospels.

I watched an unholy amount of TV last week. A lot of it was depressing but the worst was definately Desperate Housewives last night. What a miserable episode! It was like they set out to make each of the characters as ugly and pathetic as possible. Who wants to watch that? Grey's Anatomy, on the other hand, is winning me over. Not as good as say, House or Lost, but better than I first gave it credit for. Dr. Grey's "you can't call me a whore" speech...somebody give that girl an emmy!

I woke up this morning in no pain. I thought, either I've been healed me in my sleep or I'm getting a cold. Since the pain is back now I guess it means I'm getting a cold. I don't know why, but my FMS symptoms tend to ease up at the onset of an illness. Hey, whatever works!

Okay, that's it for now. Steph and I are going grocery shopping this afternoon and then I want to try to get some painting done. Take care!

Right on with the message being not as strong as last week. Strobel used facts to fight fiction and made a solid case in the process. Mike kind of just said, "The Gospel just sounds nicer than what they're saying."

You're right I suppose, there are some people who might like to hear that, but the whole series has been advertised as being "seeking the real truth" and to me that implies some sort of factual evidence and such.

I'm probably more inclined to like a message like last week more though because I tend to address issues looking at facts and logic where other people might look at the same issue and look at the emotions and feelings. Niether way is right I suppose so it's probably good they used both techniques.

I just wanted to say that I thought the drama was really well done. At first when I saw that they were doing a drama I felt sort of grumpy about it because I just have been feeling the dramas have been slightly weird lately. But anyway I thought it was so good. I can't remember what the dad said in the end about "Do you believe what you do because...?" But that was the good part anyway.

Oh and I really liked both of the actors, are they new?

Hmmmm...I guess I didn't really have much to say there. Oh well!

Fun random post Kimbo!

Hi Scott, I agree that this week's message didn't have the same umph. When Scott McKnight (sp?) said that one of the reasons we can trust the accuracy of the gospels is because of the intervention of the Holy Spirit I was shocked. That might be mean something to Christians, but it sounds like nonesense to seekers. Oh well.

Hi Crystal, I miss you! Steph said that the girl in the drama was Margaret from the Student Impact staff. I don't know who the guy was. They did great!

Thanks Kim.

I miss you too, I am really sick today. I have been coming down with a cold for a couple of days but today it hit hard big time. It's the kind of cold that just really wares you out.

Needless to say I am looking forward to nap time, but I am so glad Maddie is being such a good girl today.

WARNING: BIG TIME BRAG COMING UP!

Last night when we dropped Madison off at Oasis this cute little teenager told us how good Maddie is. She said that last week all of the girl babies were crying and Madison just walked around patting them on the back and trying to comfort them....awwwwwww!! I was a proud mommy.

So are you doing the Da Vinci thing on Wednesdays or Sundays or both?

We kicked it off on a Wednesday, that was kind of a pep talk to the core of the church. But the main series is a weekend deal. Are you guys going to talk about the Da Vinci Code?

Hey I can't do small group on Thursday. I am hosting a surprise birthday for Henry Thursday night (it's his and Corey's only day off together). I think Friday will work though????

I actually am playing basketball on Friday after work and I won't be home untill 6 or so. So plan accordingly, actually, btw.

Ha, we're planning our week on Kim's blog.

What movie are we going to see tomorrow nite?
